
Tenor Sascha Emanuel Kramer was born in Zurich (Switzerland).
He made his debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2013, where he performed the role of an apprentice boy as part of the "Akademie Meistersinger" ("Meistersinger von Nürnberg"). After finishing his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts with distinction in 2015 (Prof. Jane Thorner-Mengedoht), Sascha Emanuel Kramer was a member of the opera studio at Milan's La Scala ("Accademia Teatro alla Scala"). During this time, he was able to study with legends of the opera world, like Renato Bruson, Luciana Serra, Luciana D'Intino and Vincenzo Scalera. He made his debut at the renowned Teatro alla Scala as Soldat (Wozzeck). Further appearances at the same venue followed as the Animal Trader (Rosenkavalier), Monostatos (Magic Flute).
Sascha Emanuel Kramer was a member of the Hamburg State Opera's International Opera Studio from 2016-2018. During this time, he appeared as Tamino (Erzittre, Feiger Bösewicht!), Malcolm (Macbeth), Borsa (Rigoletto) and Flute (Midsummer Night' Dream) as well as Andres (Wozzeck) and Jaquino (Fidelio). As a sought-after Tamino of the youngest generation, he has already sung this role in new productions at the Opéra de Toulon, the Greek National Opera in Athens, the Hamburg State Opera and the Grand Theatre in Shanghai.
In the 2018/2019 season, Sascha Emanuel Kramer embodied the title role of Dalì in the world premiere of "El sueno de Dalì en una noche de Picasso" at the Biennale di Venezia. In 2019, he also appeared in concerts with the Wiener Klangforum ("Lied von der Erde"), played Gaston/Count Albert in the new production of "Die Tote Stadt" at Teatro alla Scala and Jaquino at the Hamburg State Opera. He also made his successful debut in the same role at the Teatro Communale di Bologna in 2019.
Broad concert repertoire, including performances at the Tonhalle Zurich (Beethoven 9, Mozart Requiem), Cologne Philharmonie, Beethovenfest Bonn, Elbphilharmonie (small hall), Stadtcasino Basel and many more.
Together with Alexander Boeschoten, Sascha Emanuel Kramer also forms a long-standing song duo. Together they have already performed numerous recitals and can also boast a wide range of songs.
In his still young career, Sascha Emanuel Kramer has already sung under the direction of renowned conductors such as Adam Fischer, Alan Gilbert, Daniele Gatti, Zubin Mehta, Ingo Metzmacher, Duncan Ward and Kent Nagano and has worked with directors such as Achim Freyer, Stefan Herheim, Harry Kupfer, Vera Nemirova, Philipp Stölzl, Graham Vick and Peter Stein.
In the 2023/2024 season, Kramer made his debut at the Lucerne Theatre, where he sang in the title role of the new production of "Siegfried!", set to music by Samuel Penderbayne. He was also heard at the same theatre as Polidarte in Giustino (Vivaldi). He then also made his debut with the Zurich Opera House in the same year singing Flute and Thisbe in Midsummer Night's Dream by Benjamin Britten.
In the current 2025 season, Kramer will make his debut at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
Sascha Emanuel Kramer is a prizewinner of the Prof. Armin Weltner Foundation and a former scholarship holder of the siaa Foundation.
